What is Cellulite ?

Cellulite is a problem that the vast majority of women suffer from and it is caused by a buildup of fat underneath the skin. Cellulite is a very common condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh and appears in common areas of fat deposits like the thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen.

At Sonder Private Clinic, we use Radio Frequency (RF) to help reduce the appearance of cellulite by targeting specific areas where the body holds stubborn pockets of fat. RF energy has been shown to be effective for cellulite reduction and body contouring.

A programme of RF Skin Tightening treatments combined with at-home skincare will deliver the best results.

What is radiofrequency for cellulite treatment?

Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatments can be used to effectively contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite and fat. Radiofrequency for cellulite treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite, improves skin tightening and body contouring.

RF Skin Tightening is an extremely popular aesthetic treatment worldwide. The Treatment is painless, effective and safe. It  is a popular choice for people looking for a pain free experience with great results and no downtime.

HOW DOES RF cellulite treatment work?

Radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered deep into tissue layers, heating up the fatty layers under your skin. This heating causes the fatty deposits under the skin to drain through the lymphatic system, which reduces the appearance of cellulite. The end result is smaller cellulite bumps. This also stimulates collagen production and elastin which smooths and lifts the skin’s surface and tightens the skin. This RF treatment is very effective for increasing blood circulation and lymphatic drainage which leads to the removal of fat cells in the area being treated.

RF Cellulite Treatment is a pain-free and non-invasive treatment. A treatment may last between 20 and 60 minutes.

what should i do to prepare for rf skin tightening?

One Week Before: Avoid excessive sun exposure for a week prior to treatment and discontinue sun-sensitive antibiotics.

Two Weeks Before: Refrain from chemical peels, laser, antiwrinkle or other cosmetic injectables, as well as dermal fillers. Avoid sun exposure and discontinue use of any sun-sensitive antibiotics.

In addition:

  • Avoid a heavy meal and fatty foods 1 hour before treatment

  • Avoid caffeine 2 hours before treatment

  • Avoid any alcohol 24 hours before treatment

  • If the skin is red, irritated, or broken, we cannot treat until the skin has completely healed

  • Please advise of any blood thinning or skin thinning medications you are taking

  • If you have any metal implants in the area being treated, unfortunately we cannot treat with RF. This is because the metal attracts the RF energy, and the area can become quite hot and painful

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

Radio Frequency Treatment can help in cellulite reduction on various parts of the body including thighs, abdomen, buttocks and arms.

  • The number of treatments that are needed for body contouring depend on several factors, such as:

    • Diet

    • Overall health

    • Genetics

    • Weight

    • Metabolism

    • Age

    • Response to treatment

This will depend on your individual situation, and we will carefully assess this for you during your consultation. We recommend between 8-12 sessions for optimal results.  For the treatment to be effective, RF Skin Tightening must be performed at least once a week during the initial treatment period, however, we recommend two sessions per week. Results should last for as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Again, this varies from one individual to the next and depends on factors listed above.

  • • Showering and cleansing the skin are allowed. A gentle cleanser may be used on the treatment area. Refrain from vigorous rubbing of the skin

    • Do not exfoliate the skin for 2-3 days

    • Continue with your regular skincare regime; however, discontinue use of Retin-A or any exfoliating agents with harsh abrasives or acids for seven days

    • Avoid hot baths, steam rooms and massage for 24 hrs after treatment

    • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

    • Avoid excessive perspiration for the first 24 hours

    • Hydrate well for seven days following procedure. Drink plenty of water

    • Avoid sun burn during the healing process of the skin for 2 weeks after treatment

    • Apply SPF 30 – 50+ daily

    • Refrain from laser treatments, dermal fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, waxing and depilatories for two weeks

    • The treated area may be flushed, red and feel tingly

RF has minimal risks. Patients may experience Swelling, Bruising, Itching or Redness. After treatment, patients can immediately return to work or other normal activities.

  • The ideal candidate is someone who has pockets of cellulite and/or excess body fat that they can't get rid of with diet and exercise alone. You will need to be in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Radiofrequency body contouring is designed to reduce cellulite and fat. It is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise.

At your initial consultation, we will make sure that you are a candidate for this treatment, where we will look at your medical history and ensure that this treatment is going to work on you.
