You may have heard of the terms many times and even self-diagnosed, but have you had a more in-depth look into your skin concern of hyperpigmentation or rosacea? We break down the different types of skin concerns and what you can do to manage them.

What is hyperpigmentation?

There are a few different types of hyperpigmentation, which is the darkening of the skin, making your skin look uneven. Here are some of the main types:

Melasma – caused by hormonal changes within the body during pregnancy that can leave areas of the body in a hyperpigmented darkened state – this generally occurs on the face, neck and stomach.

Sunspots- are related to sun exposure and appear unfortunately with age. They usually appear where the skin is most exposed, on the face and hands (primarily due to driving in the car).

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation – this is a type of inflammation to the skin which can be caused by acne and results in acne scarring.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common skin disease that is a redness predominately on the face. The distinctive qualities of rosacea are redness in the face, flushing and visible blood vessels as well as acne-like clusters on the face. These symptoms are all quite common and tend to become more noticeable with age. You’re not alone, Cameron Diaz, Bill Clinton, Princess Diana and so many more suffer from rosacea, and some tend to manage the symptoms better. Unfortunately, there is no cure with rosacea. However, there are ways to handle this skin concern with medical-grade skincare and Sonder bespoke treatments created for you and your personal skincare needs.

We’re here to help

Are you finding your skin becoming uneven with age? We recommend having a consultation with our GP’s to ensure that you are diagnosed with your skin concerns correctly as that will help guide your skincare treatments moving forward to help reduce your symptoms.

At Sonder Private Clinic, we have a completely holistic approach to skin analysis. We look at both the external and internal factors behind the state of your skin, offering proven skin treatments and therapies to facilitate change, both internally and externally. We only use a clinically-proven range and mixture of the latest and most revolutionary results-driven medical-grade technologies.

For hyperpigmentation and redness, there are several techniques that we have to offer to help reduce the appearance of discolouration or calm redness.

Sonder Mircodermabrasion

The Sonder Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive skincare resurfacing treatment that gently removes dead skin cells to reveal younger, smoother and more radiant skin. Microdermabrasion minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, acne and acne scars, sun-damaged skin, and other skin related concerns and conditions.

To achieve optimal results, we add Light therapy to our Sonder Microdermabrasion treatment.

LED Light Therapy

LED light therapy is a non-invasive anti-ageing procedure used to stimulate collagen and elastin production. The treatment helps to calm inflammation, reduce fine lines and destroy acne-causing bacteria on the surface of the skin. LED Light Therapy is recommended for skin rejuvenation, wrinkles, sun damage, acne, wound healing, rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, and scars. LED therapy is pain-free, has no downtime, and does not contain any harmful ultraviolet light.
